Our Greatest Vacation Bible School Ever

Our Director of Children’s Ministries, Becky Henry, and the VBS staff have planned something very special for our kids this summer!  Just four weeks from now we take them on an adventure to help us decode the greatest mystery of all.  Your children are invited to be part of The Egypt File: Decoding the Mystery of Life.

That’s the theme for this summer’s Vacation Bible School at Immanuel.  Created by our friends at Answers In Genesis, this enriching program offers answers to the tough questions many ask today.  It is true to the Bible, practical in its teaching and foundational for our children’s understanding concerning Creation.  Our VBS Staff will make this a memorable experience for your children through engaging and exciting activities!

Along with our Directors (Pam Anthony, Rachel Clay, Sara Lowery, Sean Davis, Bobby Holland, Jonathan and Tracy Ferguson, Kelly Ober, Bonnie Harvell, Karen Taylor, Kathy Pritchard, Raylene Nevi, Stephen Preas, and Martha Hancock), more than 60 teachers and workers have been recruited.  Those on the Decorating Committee, led by Stephen Preas, have been designing scenery and backdrops to create a fantastic atmosphere to transport our children into another time and culture.  Also, we are grateful to The Printing Business which has donated a generous amount of time and resources to add some dynamic touches, as well as McCools Framing Shop for supplying an abundance of materials.

Hours and hours have been invested in preparation for this week-long excursion of discovery, running from June 21-25, 9 A.M. until noon.  Planning and training sessions have been ongoing.  Excitement is building!  Many of you have already gotten involved with dozens having contributed materials for crafts and snacks.  Last Sunday, members of various adult Sunday School classes picked up more than 700 promotional flyers for distribution in their neighborhoods.  Additional copies are available for those on your street.  Yesterday, upwards of 2,000 more brochures were passed out to families in the communities surrounding our church.  Many of our children at Immanuel have already registered!

Everyone in the church can be involved in some way to make this our greatest Vacation Bible School ever.  What can you do?

  • Get your own children registered today at the Welcome Center!
  • Invite the kids on your street to participate (offer to bring them)!
  • Consider helping us with supplies!  Lists are available on the tables in the foyers or in the church office.
  • Begin praying now that God would give us 300 children to be reached with the Gospel or strengthened in their faith.

Your help is vital … fulfilling God’s purpose that we labor together as partners in the Gospel.  The apostle Paul reminds us that “when each part [of the church] is working properly, [it] makes the body grow so that it builds itself up in love” (Ephesians 4:16).  Let’s show our love for these children by joining our hands and hearts in a great effort to reach and teach them.
